Group Joos, a Belgian specialist in security printing, personalised direct-marketing campaigns, and print-on-demand applications, has enhanced its capabilities with the installation of Screen’s commercial black-and-white printer, the Truepress Jet 520HD mono.
Group Joos CEO Alex Joos explained, ‘This investment is a major boost, enabling us to handle print jobs more efficiently, quickly and sustainably. The black-and-white output can be optimally combined with our classic offset printing presses. The combination of these technologies gives Group Joos the opportunity to enter new markets quickly and flexibly.’
Mr Joos added, ‘This high-speed inkjet press offers a wide range of possibilities, ranging from data printing, including personalised pre-printed direct mail, to on-demand printing such as books, patient information inserts for packaged medication, manuals, and catalogues.’
The Truepress Jet 520HD mono inkjet press uses the same water-based SC inks as its colour cousins, enabling it to print directly onto coated offset paper without primer. Its drying is done fully with near infrared (NIR) heating, which preserves the paper’s moisture balance, and helps processing reliability in finishing.
‘The advantage of inkjet technology is that it shortens time-to-market for our customers, by eliminating several process steps, and enables printing variable content,’ adds Mr Joos. ‘In addition, the technology fits with our zero-waste approach, as it helps us reduce our own carbon footprint and that of our customers. Paper waste, storage capacity, and the use of chemicals are minimised, making it a more environmentally friendly, sustainable option.’
